A Guide

Along my day to day journey I noticed these particular beautiful birds swirling about me as I trekked. Usually, they too were alone; sometimes, they were in pairs (one with a bright yellow underbelly). But as I walked I became more and more happy to see them whenever they appeared. At the best of times, I viewed them as a sort of audience member, watching my progress moving forward with unusual interest. At the worst of times, they cheered me up and I considered them friends looking in on me — wondering how I was doing. They warmed my soul when it became chilled by doubt. And in my pre-Copernicus world view, I was sure they appeared just for me. Not an ornithologist, I have no idea what type of bird they were. But they did teach me that  hope can come from the tiniest form of inspiration. We never know what, or who, has yet to show themselves and is going to lead us forward.
